The timeless glam wave hairstyle is a popular choice that exudes elegance and sophistication. In this step-by-step guide, Stephanie Brinkerhoff (@hairandmakeupbysteph) walks us through the process of recreating this stunning look for your clients. Whether it's for a special occasion or a bride's big day, this style is sure to impress. Let's get started!

Step 1: Prepare the Foundation Begin by assessing the client's hair. If the client has a good amount of hair to work with, you can go ahead and skip to Step 3. If more hair is needed and you consult with your client on adding extensions, this should happen before proceeding. If needed, add clip-in extensions to enhance volume, especially in the back. This will contribute to achieving the full, glamorous look seen in many inspirational pictures. Use a backcombing technique at the roots, focusing on the nape, and secure the extensions with clips.

Step 1: Stylist sectioning blonde hair at the back of a client's head using a clip, preparing for a timeless glam wave style

Step 2: Set the FoundationSpray the roots with Kenra Volume Spray 25 to ensure a secure hold for the extensions. This step provides a solid foundation for the upcoming styling process.

Step 3: Begin the Bridal Wave Section the hair starting at the nape. Use a one and a quarter-inch wand and mist each section with a thermal styling spray like Kenra Hot Spray 20, serving as both a curl spray and thermal protectant. Adopt a twist-wrap technique, wrapping the hair flat with a slight twist of the wrist. Leave the ends straight and allow the curls to cool.

Step 3: stylist wrapping a section of blonde hair around a large curling iron while the rest is pinned up in a bun

Step 4: Ensure Uniform Waves Continue working row by row, wrapping the curls in the same direction to achieve a uniform wave pattern. If needed, add more Kenra Hot Spray 20 for enhanced hold and consider clipping the curls while cooling. When reaching the sections around the face, keep the hair tucked behind the ears while curling. Overdirect the hair backward, leaving the portion near the face straight. This will facilitate the final pinned-back look.

Step 4: stylist using a curling wand on a client’s highlighted blonde hair with completed curled sections falling below a top knot

Step 5: Brushing and Final Touches Ensure the hair is smooth before wrapping by running fingers through it or using a comb. Wrap the hair tighter on the wand for a bouncier curl. Once all sections are curled, use a bristle brush to thoroughly brush through the waves. This step is crucial for achieving a soft, bouncy finish. If needed, use a flat iron to fix any kinks and add a bend to the ends for a polished look. Smooth the hair back behind the ears using a small amount of Kenra Platinum Working Wax 15.

Step 5: stylist brushing out long blonde curls with a small paddle brush, separating waves on a client’s back-view hair

Step 6: Secure and Finish Pin the styled sections behind the ears, ensuring a clean and polished appearance. Lift the top layer, clip it away temporarily, and secure the pinned sections underneath. Finish with a final spray of Kenra Volume Spray 25 for a long-lasting hold.
